Wearables may identify long-term effects of COVID-19


Fitbit, Apple Watch and other wearable fitness devices might provide insight into the long-term effects of COVID-19 by tracking patients' recovery, according to a study in JAMA Network Open. Data from 875 Fitbit-wearing participants who had symptoms of respiratory illness and were tested for COVID-19 showed elevated heart rate and other physiological and behavioral changes lasted longer in those who tested positive for COVID-19 than in participants with a different respiratory disease.
