Surgery gives dog with macroglossia shot at normal life


Veterinarian Raymond Kudej, a professor at Tufts University's Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, happened to be researching macroglossia when Maureen Salzillo of Operation Pawsibility Project reached out seeking help for a dog with the condition, which left Bentley the pit bull terrier with such a large tongue that he had difficulty eating and breathing. Dr. Kudej performed a novel surgery removing a portion of the tongue, and the dog is back home and doing well.
