Scientists try new approaches against old foe: influenza


Influenza viruses mutate rapidly and have ample zoonotic capabilities, making them moving targets in the hunt for effective vaccines, so researchers are trying to develop a universal flu vaccine. Studies with animals and people suggest some based on new approaches are tantalizingly close to success.
