USAID funds zoonotic disease prevention project


Researchers at Washington State University and PATH, a nonprofit in Seattle, are leading a five-year-long project funded by the US Agency for International Development to improve zoonotic disease research and surveillance in up to 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Researchers aim to collect more than 800,000 samples from wild and domesticated animals and analyze the samples for coronaviruses, filoviruses and paramyxoviruses with spillover potential.
