Consortium to study flea-borne disease


Scientists at the Tulane National Primate Research Center, North Carolina State University and Duke University are collaborating on prevention and treatment strategies for bartonelloses, a spectrum of potentially debilitating illnesses caused by flea-borne Bartonella bacteria. "Developing targeted treatments has the potential to alleviate a lot of suffering, both in the human and pet populations," said Monica Embers, a microbiologist and immunologist at the Tulane NPRC.
