Dogs with common tumor may help people with rare oral tumors


Canine acanthomatous ameloblastoma and human ameloblastoma are driven by the same mutations, suggesting that dogs are good models for treatments that would benefit both species, according to a study in Scientific Reports. CAA is a nonmetastatic tumor that's common in dogs, while ameloblastoma is an oral tumor that is rare but serious in humans.
