Cows can be taught to use the restroom, study suggests


Waste from cows poses hazards for the animals themselves and the environment, but researchers who trained cattle to use what they call the MooLoo -- a kind of pee pad for livestock -- think they may have a solution. Sixteen Holstein calves were confined to the area and rewarded whenever they urinated, then researchers trained them to walk to the designated site for relieving themselves, demonstrating that cows are smarter than many people think, according to findings published in Current Biology.
