Zoos launch SARS-CoV-2 vaccination programs


Zoos in Chicago, Maryland and elsewhere are preparing or have started to vaccinate vulnerable animals against SARS-CoV-2 using a shot developed and donated by Zoetis under USDA authorization for experimental use. Veterinarian Ellen Bronson, director of Animal Health at the Maryland Zoo, says the vaccine relies on disabled adenovirus technology for delivery -- an approach that has been shown to be safe in animals and people.
