Animal shelters may keep some pandemic-era protocols


As the COVID-19 pandemic eases and animal shelters resume normal operations, some are keeping a few pandemic-era protocols in place, such as scheduling adoption appointments. Less interaction with the public may reduce the risk of infections in shelter animals, and one-on-one adoption sessions present the opportunity for education, counseling and pet-to-owner matching, say Ames, Iowa, Animal Control Supervisor Ron Edwards and Story County Director of Animal Control Anna Henderson.
