Dogs can eat cantaloupe, but toss the rind


Dogs can safely eat the flesh of cantaloupe melons, but eating the rind or seeds can cause stomach upset, diarrhea and vomiting, says veterinary toxicologist Renee Schmid, who works with Pet Poison Helpline. Veterinary nutritionist Sean Delaney said owners should not add anything to produce treats: "Feeding fruits raw and without adding sugar, added pectin, butter or added salt is best," Dr. Delaney said.
