LSU veterinary school examining bovine eye health


Researchers at Louisiana State University's School of Veterinary Medicine are seeking large herds of cattle with active infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis or ocular squamous cell carcinoma as well as at least 200 healthy animals for a comparative study of the bovine ocular microbiome. "If we can prevent eye disease by bolstering their microbiome ... we are not losing money or losing weight," said veterinarian Andrew Lewin, who is leading the study.
