Veterinarians suggest vaccinating some dogs for influenza


Veterinarian Michael Ramos says he and his colleagues in San Luis Obispo County, Calif., have seen about two dozen cases of canine influenza recently, which is an unusual number but isn't high enough to be considered an outbreak yet. Canine influenza is highly contagious among dogs but doesn't affect people and rarely spreads to cats, and veterinarians recommend vaccinating dogs that frequent dog parks or grooming or boarding facilities.
