AVMA's tips for wintertime pet safety


Pet owners are being urged to follow the AVMA's recommendations for keeping animals warm as cold weather grips the US. Move pets' bedding to warm spots in the home, invest in sweaters and booties for pets that spend a substantial amount of time outdoors, wipe paws well to remove salt and deicers, make sure pets are microchipped in case they get lost in the snow, and bang on the hood before starting a vehicle to shoo away cats or other animals seeking warmth in the engine compartment.
