The rewards of adopting an older pet


Animal shelter managers say older cats and dogs are the most difficult to adopt out, but people who have adopted older pets say they tend to be calmer and require less training and attention than puppies or kittens. "It's important to remember that age is not a disease; good care allows our pets to live happy, healthy and active lives in their senior years," said AVMA spokesman Michael San Filippo.
