Oakland Zoo bears step up for vaccine -- and ice cream


Two brown bears at Oakland Zoo recently leaned against the mesh wall of their enclosure and stood still for SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, knowing after weeks of training that the needle would be followed by a scoop of ice cream. Zoos around the country have been preparing vulnerable animals for vaccination as Zoetis developed and tested a vaccine for veterinary use.
