Southern white rhino born at Virginia Zoo


The first Southern white rhinoceros to be born at Virginia Zoo arrived on July 11 and appears to be thriving, according to results of an exam by zoo veterinarian Tara Reilly. Wild Southern white rhinos are threatened by habitat loss and illegal poaching for their horns, and proceeds from a contest to name the calf will go to the International Rhino Foundation.
