Dogs at 2 Calif. animal shelters get flu vaccines


Staff at the Santa Barbara Humane Society recently gave influenza vaccines to all the dogs at its shelters in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria, Calif., after the disease caused a minor shelter shutdown in Los Angeles County. Neighboring counties have reported multiple cases, and SBHS Chief Veterinary Officer Katie Marrie says people should keep dogs showing signs of illness at home for a few weeks.
