When TLS is cause for concern


Dogs that creep slowly and languorously near a low-hanging item like a branch or a sheet drying on a clothesline are exhibiting what experts call trance-like syndrome -- a behavior that can cause concern among owners but is generally benign. TLS typically involves a hypokinetic gait and glassy-eyed stare, but calling the dog's name usually ends the behavior, although veterinarian Michelle Burch said owners who observe TLS and vomiting, muscle spasms, excessive drooling or other issues should see a veterinarian.
