Backyard chicken owners in Colo. contribute to science


Colorado State University's One Health Institute is leading a study to determine the prevalence and spread of West Nile virus in northern Colorado, with one goal being to reduce Fort Collins' use of insecticidal sprays. Part of the project involves having backyard chicken owners drop off eggs so the yolks can be tested for WNV antibodies, and study leader and veterinarian Sue VandeWoude says the "diverse set of participants have been very enthusiastic."
