Scientists predict snowless future for Western US


Snowmelt season in the Western US has begun to arrive earlier and end sooner, complicating late-summer irrigation and groundwater management until the wet season arrives once again. These trends have led dozens of scientists around the world to a common conclusion: Eventually, annual snowmelt may disappear completely from mountains in the western US and similar climates.
