Study explores sewage's impact on world's oceans


Researchers studying sewage's effects on the world's marine ecosystems say 25 global sites are responsible for about half of the total nitrogen pollution. The analysis, carried out by Columbia University geographer Cascade Tuholske and colleagues, reviewed nearly 135,000 international locations before concluding that nitrogen from human sewage affects 88% of seagrass beds and 58% of coral reefs.
