COP26 delegates agree to rules for global carbon market


Delegates to the COP26 climate conference have agreed on rules to govern a global carbon market that could make trillions of dollars available to preserve forests and to build projects that fight climate change. The deal opens the door to implementing Article 6 of the 2015 Paris Agreement, which allows countries to buy carbon offset credits to meet some of their obligations to reduce carbon emissions.
