2021-09-23

Meet Morgan Vickers, Kyle Buck, Corrie Monteverde, and Magdalena Benza, geographers who have each found their own path to a career outside of academia, at 3 p.m. ET today. Buck is a human geographer who went from a post-doc to a permanent position at EPA. Vickers, a Ph.D. student in geography at UC Berkeley, has created a freelance career while still in school, pursuing their focus on Black geographies, history, and water infrastructure justice, with many clients. Monteverde is a Ph.D. teaching associate and co-founder of the Geography Graduate Student Association at San Diego State University, where she provides students with information about career paths in and beyond academia through alumni outreach and mentorship.
