Indigenous languages, medicinal remedies at risk


The loss of Indigenous languages may also mean losing knowledge of medicinal plants and remedies that are unique to those languages, researchers say. In a recently published study, researchers reviewed 12,000 medicinal plant services tied to 200-plus Indigenous languages from various areas and found that at-risk languages in those areas hold more than 70% of the knowledge about local biological diversity.
