How ocean heat waves affect nearby cities


Cities located near the ocean that are experiencing high temperatures could be feeling the effects of marine heat waves, research suggests. An analysis reviewed satellite and ground data taken for 38 cities during a nearly 40-year period and found that ocean heat waves have increased in length, frequency and intensity.
