Survey: Abdominal pain top IBD treatment preference factor

Online survey data from 400 patients with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis showed abdominal pain was the most important factor in treatment preferences, followed by side effects, infection risk, treatment administration, fatigue and bowel urgency, Corey A. Siegel, MD, MS, of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, told the ACG Annual Scientific Meeting. The survey found patients with Crohn's disease were more likely than those with UC to consider abdominal pain more important, while those with UC were more likely to say bowel urgency was more important.
