Study links low FODMAP powders to IBS improvements

The use of low FODMAP powders was associated with improvements in symptom severity, somatization and depression, along with weight loss, in patients with irritable bowel syndrome, Karen Van den Houte, PhD, of KU Leuven in Belgium reported at UEG Week Virtual 2021. When a FODMAP diet was reintroduced, researchers found fructans and mannitol were the most common triggers of symptom recurrence.
