CMS may raise fines for hospitals that don't disclose prices

The CMS is proposing to raise to $2 million per year the maximum penalty for large hospitals that don't comply with a federal rule that requires them to disclose negotiated prices for 300 common services and procedures. The current maximum penalty for the violation is $109,500 per year for hospitals with more than 30 beds.
