FDA staff: COVID-19 booster shots not needed for now


FDA scientists wrote in a briefing document that a third dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine appears to generate a stronger immune response than two doses, but evidence is not adequate to recommend use of booster doses. The document was created to brief a panel of FDA advisers, who will meet Friday to consider whether to recommend approval of Pfizer/BioNTech booster doses for the general public.
