1 in 500 Americans have died from COVID-19


One in 500 residents of the US -- nearly 664,000 people -- have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic started, as the country continues to feel the effects of the Delta variant, according to Johns Hopkins University. As of Tuesday, the US had recorded an average of more than 152,300 new cases and 1,805 new deaths per day over the past seven days, and 97,051 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, but a new ensemble forecast predicts hospitalizations could decline over the next four weeks.
