AI plus SPECT may improve cardiac event prediction

An AI algorithm used with SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging may help clinicians predict future major adverse cardiac events, according to research presented at the SNMMI virtual annual meeting. Researchers from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles tested the MACE-DL algorithm in more than 20,000 patients who had SPECT MPI, and found those with the highest risk score had a more than 10 times greater likelihood of major cardiovascular events over a five-year follow-up period.
