Data from apps, wearables help tailor depression treatment


Individualized depression treatment plans can be developed using data from smartphone applications and wearable devices that track variables such as diet, exercise, sleep and stress, according to a study in Translational Psychiatry. Researchers combined data from apps and wearables with the results of cognitive assessments and electroencephalography to generate individualized predictions of daily fluctuations in depressed mood, and they individualized machine learning approaches for each study participant.
