Researchers who studied brain samples discovered that a "different handed" form of tau proteins along with brain plaques may be the cause of Alzheimer's disease, according to the Journal of Proteome Research. Researchers said it did not seem like plaques were the cause, as the brain samples with plaques and tangles, but no dementia, had a normal form of tau.
