Whiting grows Bakken operations, pulls out of Colo.


Whiting Petroleum announced it is purchasing $271 million in assets in the Williston Basin in North Dakota and will also divest $187 million in Denver-Julesburg Basin assets in Colorado. "These two transactions result in a significantly deeper drilling inventory in our key Sanish operating area, while divesting of properties in Colorado that were not going to compete internally for capital," said Whiting CEO Lynn Peterson.
