Rising raw material prices lift drilling costs


US shale operators are facing higher production costs as the prices for steel, cement and other materials climb higher, putting inflation for the sector in North America on track to hit 12% this year, according to Citigroup analysts. Citigroup predicts that the steel used in drill pipe could command a roughly 50% higher price this year.
