EIA: US crude inventories edged lower last week


US crude oil stockpiles plunged by 5.2 million barrels last week, exceeding analysts' expectations for a 4.1-million-barrel decline, the Energy Information Administration reported. However, the drop in oil inventories was offset by a 7-million-barrel jump in gasoline supplies and 4.4-million-barrel increase in distillate stocks.
