US shale operators keep reinvestment to a minimum


A Rystad Energy analysis revealed that reinvestment rates among US shale oil producers hit a record low of 46% in the third quarter, compared with the historical average of 130%, and could decline further as drillers favor investor returns over output growth. American Petroleum Institute Chief Economist Dean Foreman said the Biden administration's prohibitive policies have complicated financing and made operators reluctant to reinvest.
