US Gulf oil firms brace for potential tropical storm


Chevron and Occidental Petroleum have evacuated workers from some US Gulf of Mexico platforms and activated storm protocols in preparation for a possible tropical storm that has begun to take shape in the region. "We will continue to closely monitor the storm and we remain focused on the safety of our workforce, the integrity of our facilities and the protection of the environment," said Chevron spokesperson Deena McMullen.
