Report: 2018 a record year for human rights funding

Foundations worldwide directed a record $3.7 billion toward human rights issues in 2018, but the area still accounted for just 2% to 7% of all foundation funding, according to a Human Rights Funders Network and Candid report based on the latest available data. "[W]e see this report as a baseline and an offering, a trajectory of the trends that helps identify places where philanthropy can better meet the needs of human rights movements around the world," the authors wrote.
