Fauci: COVID-19 vaccination crucial as variant spreads


National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci urged Americans to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to stop the spread of the delta coronavirus variant, which now accounts for 6% of new COVID-19 cases in the US. Fauci cited data from the UK showing two doses of COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech or AstraZeneca offer 88% protection against symptomatic disease caused by the variant, which was first detected in India.
