New WHO air quality guidelines aim to guard against disease


The World Health Organization has updated its global air quality guidance for the first time in 16 years, with the goal of protecting people from air pollutant-related health problems. Air pollution contributes to higher risk for respiratory illnesses including pneumonia, COPD, asthma and severe COVID-19, as well as noncommunicable conditions like stroke, cancer and ischemic heart disease.
