Biomarker, SDOH data may guide pediatric COVID-19 treatment


Levels of two cytokines were substantially higher and microRNA levels were lower in the saliva of children with severe COVID-19 than in those with mild cases, researchers say. Integrating data on these biomarkers with data on social determinants of health in an artificial intelligence program could identify children at high risk for severe disease and guide treatment.
