Study highlights gender differences in STEM aspiration


A study funded by the Taylor and Francis Group found that female students are less likely to anticipate having a career in STEM fields. Almost 9,000 ninth-graders were asked about their dream occupation, given no constraints, as well as the career paths they expected to pursue. Only 10% of the children surveyed expected to work in STEM fields -- of those, 84% were male and 17% female.
