La. refineries humming back to life after Ida


Restart processes are under way at four Louisiana oil refineries accounting for 1.3 million barrels per day of US refining capacity, while five other refineries with a combined capacity of 1 million bpd are still offline a week after Hurricane Ida ravaged the area, according to the Department of Energy. Meanwhile, 88% of offshore oil output and 83% of natural gas production remained offline as of Sunday even as the number of evacuated platforms fell from 288 to 104, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement reported.
