X-ray may help diagnose Morton's neuroma

The presence of the V-sign, or "Vulcan salute," on X-rays is an indication of Morton's neuroma, a painful disorder affecting the balls of the feet, according to a study in Skeletal Radiology. Researchers note that the ACR Appropriateness Criteria for chronic foot pain evaluation recommends the use of conventional radiography as the first radiological procedure, which may be aided by X-rays.
