Okla. high court rules on materialmen's liens


The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that a materialman for a subcontractor can file liens on a project for unpaid bills, even if the subcontractor has waived its right to liens in a contract. "The waiver of lien clause in the subcontractor's contract with the original contractor does not automatically flow down to the materialman, thereby waiving such materialman's statutory entitlement to file a mechanics' and materialmen's lien," the court found.
