NOAA: Cost of damage from weather disasters rose in 2021


Damages from 20 weather- and climate-related disasters last year in the US totaled approximately $145 billion, a $43 billion increase from the damage caused by 22 events in 2020, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Last year was also the fourth-warmest on record in the US, with an average temperature of 54.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
