Workforce diversity in US shale still a work in progress


The percentage of women working in the US oilfield services sector climbed from 16% in 2018 to 19% currently, missing an industry goal to increase women's share of the shale workforce to 20% by 2020, according to the Energy Workforce & Technology Council. After shedding over 100,000 jobs last year, oilfield servicers are now looking to rebuild their workforce, but "it's hard for small companies especially to really focus on things like even having a diverse candidate pool to work from," said Molly Determan, the Workforce Council's chief operating officer.
