NIH issues $2.6M grant to Fla. university for brain research


The NIH issued a five-year, $2.6 million grant to Nikolaos Tsoukias, an associate professor in Florida International University's College of Engineering and Computing in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, to continue developing mathematical models that explain how neuronal activity affects cerebral blood vessels and leads to brain disorders. Faculty members in FIU's BME department are the primary investigators on seven active R01 grants, says department chair Ranu Jung.
