Association between maternal hypothyroidism, CVD found


Findings from a nationwide population-based cohort study published in the journal Frontiers in Endocrinology found that babies born to women with thyroid hormone insufficiency had an increased risk for cardiovascular disease. "Maternal hypothyroidism may have an adverse effect on offspring's cardiovascular health from adolescence to mid-adulthood, particularly when the exposure occurs during pregnancy," wrote the researchers.
